The Porsche 911 is easily considered one of the most coveted sports cars of all time. Its lengthy history extends over 50 years of production, and to this day, the iconic design lines are still utilized. Throughout the 911’s long life, it has steadily evolved, becoming more refined but still maintaining the essence of its roots. The air-cooled era spawned some of Porsche’s greatest creations and some of its most iconic looks.

Introduced in 1984, the Carrera 3.2 was created as a replacement for the 911SC. Though the body mostly stayed the same, barring a few tweaks to the front bumper and an eventual option for a 930-style wing, Porsche claimed the engine to be 80% new. Capacity rose to 3164cc by way of larger 95mm barrels and a shorter 74.4mm stroke crankshaft. Pistons with raised crowns increased the compression ratio to 10.3. The main innovation here, though, was its upgrade to the Bosch Motronic 2 engine management system. This was the first production 911 to feature an ECU to control the ignition and fuel systems. This led the 3.2 litre flat six to make 228 hp and 202 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated 911 ever. Undoubtedly a success, the Carrera 3.2 sold over 70,000 examples.

The Ford GT40 is the car that Henry Ford Junior created in conjunction with Carroll Shelby to beat Ferrari at the 24hr of Le Mans.

The car began with a space frame chassis and body from ROARING FORTIES, one of Australia’s leading GT40 recreation companies. ROARING FORTIES kits are widely renowned.

The body of the car is extremely accurate to the original and manufactured from hand laid glass reinforced plastic (GRP). The door handles and fuel filler cap are exact replicas of the originals. There are 600 individually drilled and tapped holes with 600 cap head stainless steel screws (as opposed to rivets) throughout the body.

Fitted with a brand-new Mustang 5.0L Gen 2 crate engine coupled with an Audi O1E 6 speed transaxle with limited slip diff.

This early XK 120 was campaigned early on in its life and its first outing was at Rob Roy in Victoria on January 29th 1951 where it beat three other XK120 and set a new class record. Not bad for a new car just months old.

Now almost 70 years on this wonderfully patinated XK120 is still going strong and wears its age with style.
